Built in 1894, the hotel is in the Romanesque architectural style. A glass false storefront was removed in a 1980's renovation, revealing the structure's lower level stonework. The hotel's former name appears in the stonework above the Washington Street entrance. It continues on in its role as a hotel today. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Hotel Vintage Plaza is now a boutique hotel owned by Kimpton Hotels. Each room is themed after local wineries. It was named one of the "Top 500 Hotels in the World" by Travel and Leisure magazine, and was named "most romantic hotel "by Citysearch Portland.
The Governor Hotel, formerly the Seward Hotel, is a historic hotel building in downtown, Portland, Oregon, United States. The present name dates from 1932.

Built in 1909, the glazed terra cotta building's motif features a blending of Art-noveau and Native American designs. The architect, William C. Knighton, went on to become the first Oregon State Architect in 1912, and eventually designed the Oregon State Supreme Court Building.
The building was extensively remodeled in 1992, after several years of neglect. This remodel joined the neighboring Princeton Building to the original Governor Hotel. It continues on in its role as a hotel today. In 1994, McCormick & Schmick's established Jake's Grill in the former entrance lobby. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places (as the Seward Hotel) in 1985.
